STUDY TIPS

  1. You must study daily!
  2. Study environment must be quiet (no distractions).
  3. Create a study routine by studying every day at the same time and in the same location.
  4. Study one subject for 20-30 minutes.
  5. Take a 10 minute break.
  6. Switch to a different subject for an additional 20-30 minutes.
  7. Don’t over study. A small increment of study time is more effective.
  8. Focus on how to apply the knowledge that you have learned.
  9. Find a reason to study daily. Create your motivation.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE EXAM

  1. Take the Assessment Test.
  2. Use the results  to identify your weak subjects.
  3. Devote two weeks of study to each weak subject.
  4. Focus on the study guide sections and practice problems.
  5. Do all of the practice problems for each weak subject.
  6. Analyze and understand every mistake.
  7. Now it’s time to take a full-length test to gauge your progress.
  8. Approach each practice test as if it were the real thing. Impose the same time constraints and testing conditions.
  9. Continue to study and take a full length test every week or two.
  10. In the last few weeks before test day review each of the sub tests that you are already strong.

EXAM DAY STRATEGIES

  1. Arrive at the testing center 15 minutes early so that you can settle in and not feel rushed.
  2. Read each question carefully.
  3. Identify relevant words and numbers.
  4. Eliminate extra information.
  5. Use pictures and diagrams to help answer the question.
  6. Look for patterns.
  7. If a math computation seems lengthy try approximating the answer.
  8. Always attempt to eliminate answers that seem very wrong.
  9. Remember this test is timed!
  10. The computerized version of this exam will not allow you to go back to unanswered questions.
  11. There is no penalty for incorrect answers on the paper version so if you don't know the answer - GUESS!
